It’s that Spurs again

after you Claude.

Spurs put in their usual Spurs performance as they succumbed to ye another league defeat, with yet another NLD defeat and another game where you wonder if they actually take part in any training.

One side was missing their best two players, didn’t play up to their usual standard but looked like they’d been coached, told how to play, had it drilled into them. The other side were at “full strength” and looked like they were told to just “fackin’ run around a bit”.

The former won.

The latter had all the ball, had more chances, made the opposition make the most saves. The former had the nous.

Once Spurs spurned those early chances, everyone knew what the outcome would be. As Spurs lapsed into passing the ball across the pitch, no one wanting to take a shot – “After you, Claude”… “no, after you, Cecil” – when they needed to get an equaliser, you’re asking what does he do with them all week? As he brought on Werner, you’re asking, does he have a clue. And how many would rather see one of the vaunted kids, Moore, Lankshear, rather than another of Levy’s cheap busted flushes?

Is Ange another of those? The bloated bloviating Aussie is telling everyone he wins a trophy in his second season, always does, well the second seasons he sees out – when he’s not clearing his throat or coughing, when he’s not looking at the person but the floor. Will he see this one out? It’s not long until the next international break. Next up is the league cup, well is Ange gonna bottle that like he did last season? Between UEFA league games there’s PL fixtures against Brentford, who could have ripped City apart, Man U and Brighton.

Three fixtures that could quite easily be lost. If after 7 games Spurs are still sitting on 4 points, will Levy pull the trigger? The stats are ugly. 8 wins in their last 22 games, none against a top side bar that route of a really off the pace Villa. 4 clean sheets in 37, half of the number Ange has managed in total. While 4 goals scored in the last 11 games, could be said the most damning. I mean, what’s Angeball if it’s not scoring goals. Yes, you concede but you score more than the other guy. One third of a goal a game ain’t gonna do that for you, mate.

Amazingly it could get worse. Southgate is free and available and someone that Levy has looked at before. Someone Levy would love. Another patsy, happy to put up with half-arsed transfer windows and strikers with great “pressing stats”.

Ah, they were happy because Solanke was back after injury. Back to another waste of money. One great chance and he makes a complete mess of it, taking so many touches, it’s unbelievable. Yeah but he closed down some Arse players. People saying he’ll score, he’ll get the winner, he’ll get 20 this season, he’s the game changer Spurs need. Oh, wow he got his head on a cross. Give him a new deal.

So while Ange isn’t coaching them on how to cross and shoot, he must be coaching them on how to defend corners. Yeah, right. Yet again, another corner and another weak effort to try and stop the other side scoring, as they stand around watching it all go on, as Vicario is too busy fighting an opponent for space, with no clue where the ball is and Romero is clocking off again.

But Kulusevski was our best player. Well, the two games where the Swede didn’t play the full 90 got Spurs four points, the two where he played every minute has got us nothing. He had a couple of shots, wow. He also passed the ball away at a higher percentage than everyone else in the starting XI and actually more than actually nearly every player who started on both teams. He was also dribbled by more than anyone else on the park.

It’s funny how much stick Johnson gets, yes he needs to show more, a lot more at times, but hearing commentators and fans, criticise the Welshman for coming back and passing backwards, when it was all Kulusevski’s fault, is mad. With room in front of Johnson and a fast break on, all Kulusevski had to do was play a quick ball in front of him. But no, it was a slow dribbler behind Johnson, that meant he had to stop and come back for it. Yet again, Kulusevski killed all momentum.

It’s all just clueless, from top to bottom. Levy’s happy because another 61,000 punters came through the door, the NFL games are up shortly, might fit a few gigs in between. Yeah, he’ll spend £65m on Solanke and cheapo some other transfers and pretend that Spurs had a great window. The head coach and coaching staff were found out after Ange’s initial burst onto the PL scene and haven’t been able to recreate those first few games of last season or found another way of getting goals and victories. And the players seem clueless, in playing the wrong ball at the wrong time and just not knowing where to be or what to do. Unless they are being coached this rubbish.

All of this and still haven’t mentioned the ref losing it. The first half challenge by the Arse fullback on Porro was probably worth a yellow but then he grabbed hold of Vicario for which the Spurs keeper was booked, when it should have been a second yellow for the fullback.

For all of Ange’s talk, talking it up, saying how things have been better in the first few games of this season compared to last. It was dull, lifeless and clueless. But apparently Ange is job is not up for discussion no matter the poor start to the season. And there’s a problem because it’s not just this season…
