after being linked with him for some time Spurs actually signed Edgar Davids on a free from Inter Milan.
The only problem is I’ve never really liked him as a player, had him down as one of the most over rated actually – runs about a bit but doesn’t do much, been lucky to be in the right team at the right time, including the 73 Dutch caps.
So I suppose due to my previous antipathy towards him he’ll be outstanding for Spurs this year, hopefully this will be the case and I’ll be happy to sing his praise, don’t ya just love the hypocrisy of sport fans 😉 .
Arnold Muhren reckons Davids will be a success in the Premiership, even though at 32 he’s getting on a bit.
And Martin Jol has a point the squad is young, which I’m more than happy about but some experience is required.
We have a terrific young squad but we lack a winning mentality which you can only get through experience. He has all the experience and the mentality to help us make a big step. Everybody tells me we have the players now, but we have to prove it. We still have to play and develop ourselves. And away from home we have to do better and hopefully Edgar can help us. He’s 32 and still fit and had a good season at Barcelona the season before last. I’m confident he can do the same here.Source B.B.C.
Who knows maybe Davids will be in the right place at the right time again, well not long till we’ll see opening game against Pompey only 10 days away.
