Karloff – Peter Boyle, who has died aged 71.

“Young Frankenstein” is one of my favourite movies, one I can and do watch over and over again any time it’s on.

I dunno what it is, it could be Marty Feldman’s eyes, I know it’s not Frau Blücher, it could be the thought of a “Roll, roll, roll in ze hay” with Teri Garr’s buxom wench, Inga…

…but it could be Wilder’s Fronkensteen and Boyle’s monster “Putting On The Ritz”.

And there’s the scene with Gene Hackman’s Harold the blind man, somehow I can’t quite see Peter Boyle as “Popeye” Doyle a role he turned down which pretty much made Hackman’s career…did he ever pick his feet in Poughkeepsie?
