Michael Parkinson may have turned into a fawning embarrassment during his latter days of interviewing on the telly but back in the 1970s he was at his best, probably due to the fact there was better people to interview back then.

And those he interviewed back then could pretty much say what they wanted, no restrictions, no PR people constraining things to such an extent you wonder what the point is – oh that’s right a film/DVD/TV show/book to sell. So you end up with something which is now probably classed as politically incorrect by those without any sense of humour but to the rest of us is wildly funny.
