in numbers.
Following the sacking of Erik Ten Hag by Manchester United it was funny to see how his stats match up to Ange’s.
So many Man U fans were glad to see the back of the shiny headed one, as United sit 14th in the league, they won’t miss his twitchy post-match interviews – his head never stops. Would many miss Ange’s coughing, floor gazing drivel?
Well those numbers in comparison. As said United sit 14th with 11 points. Spurs are 8th with only two points more. Last season there was three places and 6 points between them.
Some were quick to point out Ten Hag’s win percentage in all competitions being higher than all those that have preceded Ferguson at United, except for Jose Mourinho. It’s 54.6%. Ange’s win percentage is 53.7. So lower. They were then quick to point out Ten Hag’s loss percentage being poor, the second worst of those United managers, at 31.8%. Ange’s is 31.5%. So pretty much the same.
It’s just down to goals.
Just look at Ten Hag’s final game, losing to West Ham, when they had so many chances, so many good if not great chances, to score a bundle. But they didn’t. Goals conceded are about the same, United let one more in than Spurs this season, they let in 3 fewer last season – that’s with Ange having the greatest defender in the whole world and Micky van de Ven, why Ten Hag had Slabhead and assorted bums. But they’ve only score 8 goals in 9 games this season, 10 less than Spurs, while last time Spurs had 17 more.
That’s all that’s separating Ange from Ten Hag. Taking chances… well that and Ten Hag won trophies in his time at United. One F.A. Cup and one League cup…
