lived down to expectations.
Ange’s Spurs managed to avoid their 20th league defeat, as the battle of the two worst teams that managed to avoid relegation ended as a one all draw between Ange’s Spurs and Potter’s Spam, as both gifted the other their goal.
God this was awful, and very fitting for the two teams sitting 16th and 17th in the Premier League, two teams bereft of any ideas and any motivation other than to go through the motions. Even rivalry seemed to be missing from this one.
Spurs with a much changed starting XI, with both eyes on Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg, well, part of an eye on the injury list that’s mounting again. Not good news on the Maddison front.
Things started off in a predictable fashion. Ben Davies got a yellow card.
Shortly after West Ham gifted Spurs the opener. Apparently according the happy clappies it was great work by Tel. When in reality after a hump up the park – something that led to a goal again but they keep on fannying about at the back – the home defender messed up controlling and getting rid of the ball, it fell to Tel, who then tried to square the ball to Richarlison. Completely missing the Brazilian – “left by Richarlison” laughably says the commentator the ball rolled to Odobert, who took one touch, looked like he was gonna mess it up, but put the ball past the keeper – his first league goal of the season.
Surprised Davies goat away with the ball hitting his arm in the area, as the ball hit him from a cross. Kind of thing that goes against Spurs, via VAR. I mean it came from a distance.
The equaliser came less than 15 minutes after the opener and again it was a gift. Bowen allowed to make the run between centre-back and fullback, ball played down the side of Spence for Bowen to run on to. He’s then allowed to run in to the near post before putting the ball through Vicario’s legs.
Vicario getting the blame but every involved was to blame.
The rest of the game was just meh. But it took one excellent save from Vicario, late on, to keep it level.
There was just nothing else. Yeah chances but nothing was good. Other than managing not to lose their fourth straight league game. One win in their last 9. So they maintained their 16th place… apparently people aren’t entertained…
