Guitar Player magazine staff list their 101 Greatest Moments in Guitar History.
From the birth of the steel string guitar in 1885 to the White Stripes in 2001 and all points in between.
The technical innovations – the Frying Pan, Telecaster, Les Paul, Stratocaster, humbucking pickup, Floyd Rose trem, 100 watt Marshall amp , first pedals.
The great guitar album releases – Robert Johnson’s “King Of The Delta Blues Singers”, B.B. King’s “Live At The Regal”, John Mayall’s Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix “Are You Experienced?” and the self titled debut from Van Halen with that track “Eruption”.
Damn – they haven’t listed the moment that I started to learn guitar! What kind of list is that?
Where’d ya reckon it ranks, above the dreaded Strat but below say Hendrix’s debut ?
Hmm. Tough one but it’s probably on par with er… Green Day’s contribution to the world of riff.
Whadyamean, they didn’t mention them either 😉
Thay have been a touch selective 😉 😀
