Crystal-Shimmer Effects.
Ah up to date with Bill Ruppert’s excellent series of Effectology videos where he uses a few well chosen Electro-Harmonix effects pedals to make some weird non-guitar noises.
This volume sees a couple of new things, first up Bill is using a couple of phono Y-adapters to split the signal and put pedals into a parallel chain, rather than the standard series chain, allowing the mixing in of the parallel effects.
He uses this method for the first two samples – “Crystal-Shimmer” and “Crystal-Slice”, which use the following pedals: Soul Preacher,Stereo Memory Man, Pulsar, POG2.
The third sample uses the standard series signal path and the following EHX effects: Soul Preacher, POG2, Stereo Memory Man, Stereo Polychorus, along with a volume pedal and optional reverb. To create “Symphonic”, Bill’s take on Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings“.
The other thing that’s different about this video is the guitar, no Jem, still an Ibanez but with the old style pre-Vai original Roadstar shape, looks like a pair of Allan Holdsworth signature models.
