You’re next, You’re next…!

“Invasion Of The Body Snatchers” is one of the classic horror/sci-fi movies and though he was in quite a bit of stuff, on film and TV, probably the role Kevin McCarthy, who died at the weekend, will best be remembered for – even appearing in a cameo role for the ’78 remake.

It’s a film that’s stuck in my memory, one of those films that they put on BBC2 at 6pm when I was a kid. You’d just had your tea, kiddies telly had finished with the Flintstones on BBC1 and the news was about to start so the remote was quickly pressed for 2, as who wanted to listen about unions and strikes and such. So the youngster could be traumatised by the thought that they couldn’t go to sleep – a favourite pastime even back then – without being replaced by an alien pod creature.

With McCarthy screaming the post title – “They’re here already! You’re next! You’re next, You’re next…!” at the end as truck loads of pods are being trucked over the US…
