The Rocking Vickers: Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart (1965)

Death.

Just a few weeks after “Philthy Animal” Taylor passed comes the news that days after his 70th birthday the man seen as indestructible, Lemmy, has died.

From wanting to be the next Little Richard or Chuck Berry, to a roadie for Jimi Hendrix through the fug of hippiedom with Hawkwind to creating the blueprint for heavy to thrash to speed metal, Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister was rock and roll.

Lemmy’s health hadn’t been the best over the last couple of years, with a few incidents, but you still thought he was one of the indestructible ones. You know the ones with just one name and an appetite for certin things in life. Lemmy, Ozzy, Keith, Iggy.

As the band posted online in their announcement of Lemmy’s death…

We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please … play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD. Have a drink or few.

…so that’s what we should do…

…and it wasn’t all just wine, women and speed…

lemmy a quid ’til Friday
