Sad news at the passing of another blues legend, Matt “Guitar” Murphy, aged 88.
Probably best know to most as a member of The Blues Brothers band, married to Aretha Franklin, in the classic 1980 movie of the same name.
But Murphy was a veteran of the blues scene playing alongside some of the legendary names, such as Howlin’ Wolf, Memphis Slim, Willie Dixon and Sonny Boy Williamson, especially on the American Folk Blues Festival tour of Europe in 1963.
