did it happen?
I’m pretty sure Daniel Levy pulled the plug on Premier Sports broadcast of the Spurs Europa League tie from Bulgaria so that Gareth Bale couldn’t catch the… “action”.
How much money would people pay to not watch Spurs play, currently? Well, Premier Sports is £10 a month. For that you got the joys of watching all the worst parts of Spurs opening Europa League game, away to Lokomotiv Plovdiv in Bulgaria, and none of the goals, as all the action, which basically occurred in the final 20 minutes, during which viewers just saw a “Back Soon” notice.
The officials must have been watching the same feed as those fans back home as they somehow missed a blatant penalty, after a challenge one Bergwijn, early in the first half. Who knows if that would have changed things but it was the same old Spurs. Lots of ball, did nowt with it, except miss chances.
The one bright spot being the return of Lo Celso who showed exactly what was missed in the Premier League opening defeat at the weekend.
The first goal came from a corner, which Spurs still can’t seem to defend. Headed on at the near post and the scorer was free to nod it in.
It really was all or nothing now, as the ties are one off games, no second leg at home to get this back, don’t win on the night and you don’t go through.
Ten minutes before th goal, Spurs finally had the midfield they should be playing, when Ndombele replaced Sissoko, to join Hojbjerg and Lo Celso. Ndombele showed his class and Jose liked what he saw.
The equaliser came about 10 minutes after their opener. A scramble on the box say the Plovdiv player save Davies’ header with his hand, for a penalty and a red card. During the usual arguments that followed the giving of a pen, another Plovidiv player decided to have a got at the penalty spot earning him a second yellow. Harry slotted home the spot kick and now against nine men they managed the winner five minutes later.
Ndombele picked the ball up on the left, passed it off and charged into the box, by the time Moura crossed the ball from the right he was there in the right spot, middle of the box, six yards out, to bundle it home. It didn’t look a clean contact.
So a win, onto the next game against a team of thrown together letters, way out east and hoping Gareth bale didn’t watch this and think twice about rejoining…
