Ain’t found a way to kill me

Alice In Chains - Rooster

Picked up an old, 1980s, Arion Flanger (SFL-1) cheap on the bay a few weeks back, pretty good little unit – especially for the price, less than 20 quid – and easier to get a good sound out of than my Line6 Liqua Flange.

So I’ve been basically playing a lot of flanger tunes, yes Van Halen’s “Unchained” has been banged out quite a bit but one I’d forgotten was “Rooster” by Alice In Chains. Don’t know how I’d forgotten it because “Dirt” was an album that I listened to a hell of a lot from the day it was released.

It is hands down without doubt one of the best albums of the 90s, Jerry Cantrell is one of the best guitarists to come out of that grunge period, so one of the most underrated guitarists as well as being a hell of a songwriter to go with the playing.

Then I read recently that the band are recording a new studio album the first after the death of singer Layne Staley in 2002, with William DuVall on vocals. So as my profile shows there’s been a quite a bit of AiC played lately…

And a bit of NSFW fun… Queen Of The Rodeo… you have been warned…
